Chery is continuing its steady global expansion with the launch of yet another new name - with yet another new model - in Malaysia: The JETOUR Dashing.
The Dashing, a five-seater SUV, marks the first model by JETOUR to make its way into the Malaysian market. Described to have a 'Travel+' philosophy centred on "lifestyle and tech-driven solutions", the brand counts itself as yet another sub-brand under Chery Group to have made its way into export markets, following in the footsteps of OMODA and JAECOO. Thus far, JETOUR has apparently made landfall in 65 countries.
Returning now to the Dashing, the SUV stands 4,590mm long, 1,900mm wide, and 1,685mm tall, and is described as having a "vanguard exterior aesthetic". Units sold in Malaysia are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, and come with a wealth of equipment including a smart audio speaker system, a 360-degree surround view parking camera, and millimetre-wave radars that power its advanced driving assistance systems.
It’s not just Malaysia that Chery has its sights trained on, but the larger Southeast Asian region. Construction is already underway at JETOUR’s knock-down factory in Malaysia, with production at the facility set to begin in H1 2025. The brand has outlined its hopes for the plant to serve as an export base for ASEAN markets, even as it continues to invest in other technology partnerships and localised R&D capabilities, while optimising its dealer network.
