The Italian police car fleet looks set to get quite the refresh going into 2024. Just weeks after the force revealed its new Alfa Romeo Tonale police cars, Lamborghini has now revealed its own donation to the Italian Highway Police - a Urus Performante.
The performance SUV is set to enter the service come 2024, and was handed over to Italian Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi and Italian Head of Police, Vittorio Pisani by CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann.
The collaboration between Lamborghini and the Italian State Police is said to have started since 2004, and this Urus Performance is now the sixth model to enter into the force's highway police fleet. It joins a Huracan LP610-4, and will be used for special services, including the urgent medical transport organs and plasma.
The special car has been fitted out by the technicians at Sant'Agata Bolognese according to police specifications, while its livery was designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile. This finish combines the classic blue of the Italian State Police and white, while tricolor bands feature on the car's sills and seat belt. The Urus Performante has also received police logos, applied to the doors in reflective film, while a light bar with 360-degree blue LED lights has been installed on the roof, together with a two-tone electric siren.
The car also comes with an armoured weapon box in the cabin, while its boot hosts a special compartment for stowing service equipment and a defibrillator. The SUV also gets a portable fridge complete with a display and data logger for the transportation of organs.
