"Karting's a great source of training for any racing driver, be it mentally or physically. Take the Formula 1 drivers for example - they return to karting when they can. Michael Schumacher for instance, was practising in a go-kart prior to his comeback to F1," said the 18-year-old English teenager who is currently based in Singapore.
This is Bradley's first time racing in AKOC and also his first time racing in the Philippines. It is however, not his first time racing in karts in Asia as he has competed at the CIK-FIA World Cup in Suzuka, Japan and the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship in Macau.
The former multiple British kart racing champion first stepped into a go-kart at the age of eight. Since then, Bradley has gone on to win several titles, including the 2008 British Open Championship. He became the youngest ever winner of a Formula A S1 MSA British Kart Championship round at the age of 15 years and 8 months and had three Top 6 finishes in the 2009 CIK FIA Super KF1 European Championship. In addition, he was a CIK-FIA sponsored young driver in the 2009 CIK-FIA Super KF1 World Cup and CIK-FIA Super KF1 World Championship.
"My aim for this weekend is to put in a performance that I can be proud of. I want to do well and finish as high as I can, but I'm aware that I have not raced in a kart for some time now, so I need to make sure that I can perform well before I can win. But most importantly, I just want to have fun and enjoy a good race."
Having moved to Singapore late last year, Bradley made the transition from karts to formula cars with a debut single-seater racing season at the 2010 Formula BMW Pacific Championship series. After six of 15 rounds, Bradley holds a lead of 34 points ahead of the next driver in the Drivers' Championship and is also leading the Rookies' Cup.
The next round of Formula BMW Pacific will take place at the end of August at South Korea's all-new Formula 1 international circuit.
