Fiat says that the new Doblo has the largest wheelbase in its segment, thereby offering improved passenger space and a cavernous 790 litres boot capacity in MPV form. As a van the new Doblo has a payload of between 750 and 1000kg depending on the version.
The Doblo will be launched with a choice of four engines, a 95bhp petrol unit and three Multijet diesels that produce 90bhp, 105bhp and 135bhp. Additional powerplants to be introduced later include a Natural Power engine with a dual fuel system that can run on petrol or methane, and another diesel engine mated to a Dualogic robotized gearbox.
All versions will feature Fiat’s Start&Stop system as standard, which cuts off the engine when the car is stopped to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Other equipment include automatic climate control system with distribution to rear seats, cruise control, parking sensors, a built-in Blue&Me hands-free system and a "Blue&Me TomTom" navigator.
The Doblo Cargo van will be available in up to seven different bodystyles, including short and long wheelbase van, high top van, short and long wheelbase 5-seater Combi and a brand-new short and long drop-framed version that Fiat says can be converted for specific trades such as refrigeration chambers, fixed and tilting flatbed trucks.
