On 1 April 2022, Ducati Singapore hosted a media viewing of the brand new Superleggera V4, of which only 500 examples will be made globally.
The Superleggera V4 is the ultimate expression of Ducati performance in a road-going superbike, an extreme machine designed for maximum on-track performance blended with the rider friendliness of a road-legal sport bike.
Extensive use of carbon fibre helps drop the bike's weight to a lithe 159kg in road-legal specification A key to the bike's extreme performance is the extensive use of carbon fibre, including for all the fairings, front frame, single-sided swingarm, wheels, seat base, rear subframe as well as the aerofoils. Combined with light weight components across all other parts of the bike, including titanium and aluminium components, the bike has a dry weight of just 159kg (16kg less than the Panigale V4). The additional Racing Kit (supplied with the bike but with some non-homologated components) drops the weight to just 152.2kg.
Powering the Superleggera V4 is the Desmosedici Stradale R engine, which has been made lighter and more powerful. The 998cc V4 engine produces 221bhp and 116Nm of torque, with power bumped up further to 233bhp and 119N with the full Akrapovic racing exhaust fitted. This gives the bike an incredible power-to-weight ratio of 1.39bhp/kg, a record-breaking figure for a road-legal bike, and further increased to 1.53bhp/kg in track configuration.
The carbon fibre airfoils contribute to the bike's excellent aerodynamics, one that is actually more effective than the Ducati MotoGP bikes To maximise track performance, the Superleggera V4 Aero Package includes biplane-configured airfoils that work together with the fairings to produce up to 50kg of downforce at 270km/h, 20kg more than the MY20 V4 and V4 R. In fact, the Aero Package is actually more effective than the one currently employed on Ducati's MotoGP bikes.
The Superleggera V4 is also fitted with extensive electronic equipment, including five pesonalised riding modes, the latest generation electronics package, a full-TFT 5.0-inch screen with three different displays, as well as on-board electronics that can use GPS to track and analyse your laps.
Being an exlusive model, each Superleggera V4 is individually numbered, out of a total of 500 that will be made globally.
The extreme performance and exclusivity comes at a cost, of course. The Superleggera V4 has a machine price of $180,000, and an estimated on-road price of close to $300,000 here in Singapore. However, even if you do have 300 grand to burn, you'rd hard out of luck because the two units that have been allocated to Singapore have already been spoken for.
With just one of them expected to be registered, the odds of seeing this bike here in Singapore is incredibly rare. However, you can click through the gallery to get a closer look at this limited edition Ducati Superleggera V4.
