Dacia has announced that it will take part in the Dakar Rally and the World-Rally Raid Championship (W2RC) from 2025, marking its title bid and following its impressive 1-2 finish at the Rallye du Maroc, a race which mainly served as a dress rehearsal.
Dacia's contender, the Sandrider, is designed to win, and after months of testing, will take on their next challenge at the Dakar Rally. The opening round of the 2025 FIA World Rally-Raid Championship - running from 3 January 2025 to 17 January 2025 - is expected to be a stern test of both driver and machine.
Taking place over sand dunes and rocky passes from the west to the east of Saudi Arabia, navigation and endurance also comes into play as competitors must find their way using GPS whilst tackling tough obstacles and extreme conditions.
After the Prologue stage on 3 January 2025, the rally will consist of 5,145 timed kilometres across 12 days. Also included in the itinerary is the 48hr Chrono stage, covering 971 competitive kilometres. In total, the Dacia Sandriders will face a total distance of 7,726km in the 2025 Dakar Rally.
