Cat A-friendly BYD Seal officially launched in Singapore

Less than a year after it was launched in Singapore (and with an exhilarating driving experience at Changi Exhibition Centre too), the BYD Seal is being reintroduced to customers in yet another electrifying manner: With an all-new variant that makes it eligible for a Category A COE.
On Wednesday evening (26 June 2024), the BYD Seal Dynamic 100kW was launched in the heart of Balestier, right next to BYD's own automotive lifestyle concept store, BYD by SevenDaze.
With the launch of the Seal Dynamic 100kW on Wednesday evening next to BYD by SevenDaze, every BYD passenger-car model in Singapore can now be bought with a Cat A COE
Sgcarmart understands that the Dynamic 100kW will replace the original Dynamic variant, which has thus far marked the entry point the Seal lineup. With its introduction now, every BYD passenger-car model in Singapore can now also be bought with a Category A COE.
Bringing up the previous Seal Dynamic is important, because the only thing that has been cut from the car is power.
As its name suggests, the BYD Seal Dynamic 100kW gets a single motor that can send a maximum of 100kW (134bhp) to the rear wheels - or 50kW (67bhp) less than on the outgoing BYD Seal Dynamic. Consequently, it now completes the zero to 100km/h sprint in 10 seconds flat, compared to 7.5s previously.
The Seal Dynamic 100kW continues to be powered by the same 61.44kWh battery, which gives the car a healthy WLTP-rated range of 460km
Crucially, however, this motor still produces the same amount of torque as before - 310Nm - which means that the car should retain its zippy nature.
Otherwise, the Seal Dynamic 100kW holds on to everything that the Seal Dynamic had. It's still powered by the same 61.44kWh battery, which is - as with before - good for up to 460km of range, and can support relatively fast charging. A 110kW DC charger will send the state-of-charge of the car's battery from 30 to 80% in just 32 minutes.
What this also means is that the Dynamic 100kW variant continues to boast the sort of generosity in equipment that has made the Seal so compelling since its introduction.
The Seal Dynamic 100kW also gets the same high-end features as before, such as a large, rotating infotainment touchscreen, as well as ventilated front seats that offer electric adjustment
For instance, you still get a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen up front, paired to a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. This Cat A-friendly variant of the Seal also continues to offer one of the most treasured features on modern cars today: Ventilated front seats, both of which offer electronic adjustment.
Other standout qualities of the Seal Dynamic 100kW include its full suite of driver assistance features, nine-airbag system, panoramic glassroof, as well as the ability of its operating system to receive over-the-air updates.
The launch of the Seal Dynamic 100kW on Wednesday evening also coincided with the grand start of a mega 'BYD 100 Hour Sale' campaign that BYD Singapore is now running with the support of its dealers.
Starting from 6:00pm on 26 June 2024, the brand is offering limited-time deals across all models with discounts and benefits worth up to $20,000.
Naturally, the spotlight has been put specially on the Seal Dynamic 100kW, for which customers stand to win discounts of up to $33,000 with a sure-win lucky draw. The campaign has been designed such that the earlier customers purchase their new Seal, the more chances they get at winning.
Interested customers may visit their nearest BYD showroom (or restaurant!) during the 100 Hour Sale, with additional enticing benefits to look forward to, too. For instance, Sgcarmart understands that Harmony Auto is serving its customers with free oysters and drinks during the period.
Speaking at the event, Mr. James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore and the Philippines, reiterated the growing uptake of electric vehicles in Singapore, and thanked customers for their enthusiasm towards the brand.
He also teased the launch of at least another three to four models by the brand in the months to come, with at least 15 points of contact across its showrooms and automotive lifestyle concept stores on hand to service customers. This is likely to include the introduction of BYD's luxury-oriented sub-brand, Denza, which will arrive in Singapore by Q4 2024, according to Mr. Ng. (The brand was previewed at Suntec City, on the same weekend of the 2024 Singapore Motor Show, earlier this year.)
Expressing her excitement at the launch of the Seal Dynamic 100kW, Ms. Adelene Tan, Sales and Marketing Director at Vantage Automotive Limited, revealed that customer demand for a Category A-friendly Seal had been strong since the car's launch in September 2023.

Thanking BYD Singapore for its support, she continued: "We listened hard and worked really hard to make this (new variant) possible."
The launch of the Seal Dynamic 100kW comes as BYD continues to establish its leading position in Singapore's car scene.
Between the September 2023 launch of the Seal lineup and now, the brand has continued to open more automotive lifestyle concept stores, which interweave the element of dining into the larger brand experience.
A third dealer, Harmony Auto (as mentioned above), also joined the fray earlier this year, with the grand opening of BYD Robinson 77 right in the heart of Singapore's Central Business District. And on this note of expanding its local reach, the brand announced a landmark partnership with five of Singapore's largest charging operators in March, through which BYD-owners can now enjoy discounted charging for their electric cars.
Last but certainly not least, BYD currently has bragging rights as the bestselling brand in Singapore overall - with the Atto 3 holding onto the title of Singapore's bestselling model in 2024 so far. (These are based on the LTA's latest figures for authorised-dealer car registrations.)
The BYD Seal Dynamic 100kW is currently on sale in Singapore, with prices starting from $169,888 (including COE).
