Check out the video as Adrian van Hooydonk, the current Head of Design for BMW Group, provides some insight about the ideas behind the 5 Series GT and how it has the luxury and space of a 7 Series within the wheelbase of a 5er.
When it reaches production stages, it will be the only four-door, four-seater mix of a coupe and a hatchback. It also features a bootlid system similar to the Skoda Superb's. BMW expects the Gran Turismo to make up 12 to 15 percent of the 5 Series sales.
