Lamborghini has unveiled the Huracan STJ. The production of the limited edition 10-unit model acts as a last hurrah of Lamborghini's last super sports car to be equipped with its V10 engine.
The naturally-aspirated V10 engine is not only a symbol of Lamborghini's history, but also an engineering icon of the marque alongside a contributor of the success of the well-loved Huracan family. It is expected that by the end of the year, the Huracan family will be replaced by a super sports car with a hybrid powertrain.
Acting as a tribute to the Huracan family, the design of the Huracan STJ is based on the Huracan STO. However, the STJ is fitted with an exclusive package which enhances the racing spirit of the STO, embracing the peak performance achieved throughout the lifespan of the Huracan family.
Its name stands for Super Trofeo Jota, with 'Trofeo' paying tribute to the Lamborghini one-make championship which was established in 2009, while 'Jota' refers to Appendix J of the FIA Regulations which sets racing car specifications on top of the traditional Lamborghini models developed for the track like the Aventador SVJ.
The Huracan STJ also comes with an aerodynamic package developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse technicians with the know-how acquired over 10 years of being at the top of Gran Tourismo competitions. Touches here include the use the iconic 'cofango' - two all-new carbon fiber aerodynamic appendages, while the angle of the rear wing has been increased by three degrees to allow the car to deliver a 10% increase in aerodynamic load while maintaining its aerodynamic balance.
Available mechanical grip has also been increased with the use of four adjustable racing-derived shock absorbers instead of the standard active components. The adjustability of these shock absorbers optimises the rebound and compression at both high and low frequencies, giving total freedom of choice in the set up based on track characteristics. The special characteristics of shock absorbers enables lower spring stiffness to be used all while maintaining optimal dynamic control of the car and increasing steering precision. Special Bridgestone Potenza Race tyres, made with a specific high grip compound and installed on 20-inch single-nut rims, have been developed to maximise driving dynamics.
All of these improvements made to the STJ give the limited edition vehicle a one second improvement on the Nardo Technical Center Handling Track laptime as compared to the Huracan STO.
The Huracan STJ will be offered with two configurations and livery options, both crafted by Lamborghini Centro Stile.
The first configuration features a Grigio Telesto (grey) bodywork combined with a Nero Noctis (black) roof and Rosso Mars (red) and Bianco Isi (white) details throughout the exterior. The interior of this specification is distinguished by Nero Cosmus (black) Alcantara seats with leather details and contrasting Rosso Alala (red) stitching.
Still staying true to its sporty nature, the body of the second configuration is in Blu Eliadi (blue) with a Nero Noctis (black) roof and Rosso Mars (red) and Bianco Isi (white) details. The interior of the two options are the same.
Each of the cars will feature a numbered carbon fiber plate marked "1 of 10". Options for plate customisation for the passenger side are also available upon request.
