Aston Martin unveils the Vantage GT4 racer

The new Vantage GT4 racer is based on the V8 and V12 Vantage road cars, and shares the same aluminium chassis, base engine and suspension designs as the road-going models. The new car is also revised from the existing Vantage GT4 racer from 2010, with new enhanced aerodynamics among the improvements. The car is eligible to be entered in Aston Martin's own GT4 Challenge, as well as the European GT4 Cup, and any other races in the FIA GT4 class.

These new aerodynamic changes include a new splitter, which help increase downforce and direct cooling air to the brakes and radiator. There is also a larger rear spoiler taken from the V12 Vantage, and a new carbon fibre diffuser and rear underfloor, which, according to Aston Martin, create an area of low pressure under the rear of the GT4, thus increasing downforce while also channeling more air through a new rear-mounted high capacity transmission oil cooler.

The Vantage GT4 is powered by a 4.7-litre V8 engine with a remapped ECU that offers "increased levels of power and torque." A six-speed manual transmission sends the power to the rear wheels through a limited slip differential, while a Sportshift automatic gearbox can also be specified as an option. Aston Martin is also offering a race-developed Bosch ABS and traction control system that has been specifically calibrated by Bosch Motorsport for the Vantage GT4.
