Another LTA officer caught on camera yanking open door of a car

The video of a spat on June 23rd between a Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officer and a motorist outside Yio Chu Kang MRT station has gone viral online, prompting the authority to apologise for the incident. The video shows the officer in an argument with the driver of the vehicle, shouting and threatening to beat him. He asks the driver in Hokkien if he is being rude, then yanks open the door of the car. At this point, the officer is stopped by the woman filming the video, who tells him he is 'working for the Government' and should not behave in such a manner. The officer responds, "He want to hammer me, ask him come out lah." The motorist drives off as the officer speaks to the woman.
It is not known what sparked the argument between the officer and the driver whose identities are unknown. Netizen Tong Bock Toh posted a video of the altercation on Facebook on Saturday. It has received about 40,000 views and has been shared more than 500 times. The officer in the video was employed by Ramky Cleantech Services, which provides parking enforcement services to the LTA. The LTA yesterday confirmed that he was no longer employed by Ramky.
An LTA spokesman said it "takes a serious view of such incidents", and has issued a stern warning to Ramky to ensure its officers carry out their duties 'fairly and professionally' at all times. He added, "Our enforcement officers are required to undergo a comprehensive training curriculum, including how to handle members of the public, before they are deployed to carry out their duties."
This is the second such incident involving an LTA enforcement officer in less than a year. Last November, LTA officer Tan Hock Guan, 51, was caught on camera fighting and verbally abusing Uber driver Goh Kok Ling at a taxi stand at Bugis Junction. Tan, who was also employed by Ramky at the time, was jailed for one day and fined $2,000 for the offence. Ramky declined to comment on the latest incident when contacted yesterday, saying the matter was still under investigation.
