The automobile industry is undergoing a big change with small engines, city cars and energy efficiency, claiming more importance than just raw speed and power. Yet exotic cars and the supercar segment seem to hold a place on its own with new range toppers, expected from McLaren, Porsche and Ferrari.
One supercar that defied engineering possibility and defied the theroies of physics, is the Veyron. The range-topping super sport variant is capable of 1,200bhp and top speeds in excess of 400km/h which if we are not wrong, is faster than the take-off speed of a commercial jetliner. Apparently while the common man and cash rich owners are more than satisfied with the power output, the people at Bugatti aren't. Rumours are the French-German brand will unveil a 'Hyper Veyron' at the Frankfurt Motor Show next year.
The hyper Veyron will feature a lot of carbon fibre to reduce almost 249kg of weight and in turn increase power to weight ratio. Moreover the powertrain might get updated from the current configuration to an 8.0 or 9.6-litre unit good for an earth shattering 1,600bhp with a top speed of 463km/h and a century sprint timing of 1.8 seconds.
