What We Like

Dashing good looks
Comfortable and refined cabin
Pleasant to drive
What We Dislike
Infotainment system and steering wheel take some getting used to
The Starship Enterprise in 'Star Trek' navigates the vast reaches of space in search of strange new worlds and to seek out new life and new civilisations.
In some respects, the new Peugeot 3008 is very much like the Enterprise. Its sleek exterior, futuristic cabin and several unorthodox features take it on a journey to explore unchartered territories of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment.
Beam me up, Scotty
The Peugeot 3008 has seen a significant upgrade on the design front, compared to its predecessor. The first generation sported a half-and-half look between an SUV and a multi-purpose vehicle. This generation, however, now looks like a proper crossover.
Improvements don't just stop at exterior styling, though. Inside, the 3008's high-tech cabin looks like something straight out of 'Star Trek', thanks in part to Peugeot's i-Cockpit.

It displays vehicle information on a 12.3-inch fully-digital screen that comes standard. Complementing the i-Cockpit is an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen, which controls media, radio and climate control functions.
It can even adjust the car's fragrance intensity, which is available in Harmony Wood, Cosmic Cuir and Aerodrive scents.
Highly illogical
One thing to note is that in order to navigate to other menus within the infotainment system, you'll have to use the row of physical buttons located beneath the screen.
It takes some getting used to, but speaks volumes about the 3008's distinct personality, just like the funky little steering wheel, which somehow doesn't quite match the SUV's size.

Mr. Sulu, take us out
Once you get the hang of the eccentric ergonomics in the 3008, you'll find it's quite pleasant in terms of comfort and everyday driveability.
A torquey 1.6-litre turbodiesel putting out 120bhp and 300Nm of torque won't reach warp speed, but on the road it feels punchy and eager to go.
Despite its size, the 3008 feels surprisingly light on its feet. The F1-inspired steering wheel feels light and accurate but, as with most cars these days, lacks feedback. That said, the punchy engine makes for great driving.
But it is the car's comfortable and refined cabin that ultimately takes the cake, allowing for quiet and cushy long-distance drives.
Comfortable Nappa Leather seats provide good lumbar support while the driver's side offers massage controls to stimulate those dormant muscles during long hauls.

Adding to the 3008's futuristic appeal are a wireless smartphone charging bay, a gear shifter that looks like a pilot's joystick, as well as stainless steel pedals and a sunroof.
Of course, it's practical, too, thanks to a 520-litre boot capable of storing even an arsenal of Phasers and Plasma Canons.
Live long and prosper
In a segment dominated by the likes of the Honda Vezel and the Nissan Qashqai, this unorthodox underdog manages to stand out in a sea of crossovers, proving that it can hold its own in the big leagues.
Unconventional features, a splendid-looking exterior, futuristic cabin and pleasant driving dynamics are all indicators that the Peugeot 3008 has accomplished its mission to go boldly where no man has gone before.
