Soft, spacious, and well-suited for Singapore | Posted on 04 Jun 2023 |

Review
This facelifted Citroen C5 comes with one of the most comfortable rides for its price, and leads the field when in comes to space and versatility. And it does not feel slow behind the wheel either.
What I like
The ride, of course. It's properly pliant without becoming too boat-like when you're accumulated some speed.
There's also loads of space for passengers and cargo in the back.
And that 1.2-litre unit has little trouble pulling this C5 about. It's not only full of torque, but also delivers a great soundtrack when you're gunning it.
What I do not like
Looks a little unusual - almost un-car-like from the outside.

The Citroen C5 comes with a rorad tax friendly 1.2-litre engine, is comfortable on the go and has more than enough space for the average Singaporean family. What more could you really ask for?
What I like
The progressive suspension technology is no joke. For the price, ride comfort is truly high without making the C5 Aircross too floaty to drive over undulating surfaces.
Space at the back and space for luggage is also impressive here, and the engine manages to pull the car along without much fuss, even despite of its small capacity.

Citroen's SUV has just gotten a timely facelift, but is that enough to keep it fresh in the eyes of families all across Singapore?
What I like
If you're shopping on good looks alone, then, not really, no. The split head light design just doesn't quite jell with the rounded body of the rest of the car quite like how the pre-facelift example did. And elsewhere, the work looks minimal.
Not that that really should matter. Because underneath the bonnet is the same 1.2-litre unit that is not only torque, but also a pleasure to push hard, ensuring that you don't feel left behind at the lights, while delighting with a low road tax bill.
And there's a deep boot, a spacious and airy interior, versatile space in the cabin. It's really the sought of SUV that has been designed for a fairly rough and tumble family to enjoy.
What I do not like
Where's that French distinctive touch to ensure it stands out from the competition, and indeed, the rest of the Citroen range?

If you've got three kids and want to motor about in comfort, this Citroen C5 Aircross could be the ideal pick.
What I like
It just right-sized for the Singaporean family in so many ways. It's modern, stylish (though not quite as distinctive as the pre-facelift car I think).
But, this time you get all the chunky SUV looks but with a 1.2-litre engine. So there's high fuel economy, and you'll get your car with a cheaper Cat A COE as well.
Did I mention the fact that it will happily pack with with no troubles? There's wide seats for all, good visibility out, and you get a pretty sweet riding vehicle to boot. It's so soft and comfortable, perfect for tackling the crumbling roads both here and up North.
What I do not like
The interior could have seen a few changes. The layout of the dash is still interesting, but looks practically the same as the old car.
Review
It's economical yet hardly underpowered for our roads, and on the inside, is just big enough to see to all the needs to a family of five. The Citroen C5 Aircross is a great option for all that want all space and practicality of an SUV without the tall fuel bill or the difficult parking that comes with an oversized car.
What I like
High on road comfort. At this price, nothing really comes close. The C5 Aircross just floats over practically all bad road surfaces. It really make driving around three (or four!) chatty family members just that much more tolerable.
And the car is quite quiet as well. Transmission is smooth, and the engine does not sound bad, even when stretched all the way to the end of the tachometer. Overall a very sweet thing to own and drive.
