I finally had time to test the RX200t- tried the EX model. The design language with the large spindle grill and sharp edges follows the design language of sedans from Lexus. Ground clearance is higher than a sedan but not too high. The elderly may have a little bit of problem, climbing aboard. The interior is typically Lexus - very plush, spacious ( sits 5 adults very comfortably ) but the design understated . The standard smooth leather felt as soft as the semi-aniline on the higher models. The drive was very comfortable and compliant and the power a little better than on the ES250 2.5 engine, but with a little more grunt when pushed. Otherwise a very smooth 4 pot engine, better than the Europeans. I could not test the handling as the route taken was straight with gentle curves. Cabin is well insulated and road noise kept at bay. But the newer Lexuses don't seem to have the legendary quietness of the past, maybe we have very high expectations of Lexus and competitors have also improved. The aircon is noisy though, especially the rear ones which on high was distractingly so. However it very effectively cooled down a hot black model very quickly. Overall one could drive this SUV ( albeit only front wheel drive in the executive model ) for a long time as it seems to give one a feeling of well being and does not take much effort to drive.

What I like
Comfort, relaxed manner.
Styling - aggressive looks.
Safety features like Blind-spot, rear radar when backing out of carparks, rear camera and all round parking sensors, 10 airbags
Lexus reliability and service
No touch rear tailgate opening.

What I do not like
Long wait - at least 3 to 4 months for delivery!
Noisy airconditioner

The rx200t is a quality suv that appears to be aimed at the german big guns, and i think it does a very commendable effort. Its a very luxurious car, the inside is finished in a very upmarket style. Lots of leather and soft-touch materials all around. The cabin is nice and spacious too.

the exterior is very aggressive and sharp, and i suspect it will be a love-it-hate-it kind of thing. Personally, i would have liked a slightly more understated styling, but there is not doubt the car sits very aggressively on the road and cuts an intimidating presence. Which isn't necessarily bad for a suv.

the drive is relatively calm and composed, suspension feels nice and soft, and its generally very usable on our roads. Its not really cut out to go very fast, i feel, and more geared towards economy. Handling is decent, steering is well weighted and the car doesnt move around very much.

all in all, i think the rx200t is a very capable, relatively well-priced vehicle to compete with its german counterparts.

What I like
- top-notch interior
- very comfortable when driving sensibly
- feels like a quality car all around

What I do not like
- not high on the super aggressive styling
