Renault Kadjar 1.5T dCi Bose Edition (A) Review
25 Apr 2016  |  Renault Reviews
The all new Renault Kadjar is a stylish and well-equipped French temptress saddled by an uninspired drivetrain, one that leaves us in two minds.

1. My son shares with me that the overall smoothness of the car is much better,
2. Control panel is clear , ie: clear n concise.
3. Overall look of the car has a better Sport look, ie : Height of the car and internal design while the internal space is still maintained .
4. This new model is also more Silent while driving.
5. Could have a better sound system display unit
Tks Richard.

Very good looking compact SUV. With a 1.5 Turbo engine, there's enough power for me.

Been driving the car for 2 months now, and the fuel economy is just awesome. With the first 3 tanks of diesel pumped, I was able to achieve 5 litres/100 km. I'm into my 4th tank and left with 1/4 tank now, and I'm achieving 4.8 litres/100 km. I would consider my routine route to work to be about 50% Highway.

What I like
1. Bose sound system
2. Awesome Fuel economy
3. Driving eco-2 feature
4. Big boot and below compartment can keep a lot of stuff
5. Moon roof
6. Lane departure warning
7. Overspeed alert through detection of speed limit signs and displaying the speed limit on the dashboard
8. Assisted parking: cool, can even do parallel parking and also assist driver to move the car at the angle to drive off.
9. Hill Start Assistance
10. Stop and Start function
11. Electronic parking brake
12. Blind spot warning
13. Anti-glare rear view mirror
14. Cruise control/Speed Limiter – have not used it
15. R-Link 2 multimedia system (many of the features are linked to this)
16. Reverse camera
17. Automatic headlights (turn on if outside light is deem, e.g. sheltered car park, tunnel)
18. Front windscreen wiper sensor
19. Leather seats and steering wheel finishing is great
20. 19" Sports Rim

What I do not like
1. Glove compartment has no light
2. Door lock and Windows button (on driver's door inner handle) not lighted up
3. Side window does not auto close, need to press a button
4. Immobilizer system, no car alarm, without the key card, engine won’t start. To start engine, step on brake and press a button. Won’t auto-lock if you forget to press lock button on the outside door handles.
5. R-Link 2 doesn’t support Android Auto or Apple Car Play. Rumours is that it will support Android Auto or Waze. It’s using Tom Tom for navigation now, no live traffic information and not as good as Google Maps.
6. No back air cond vent, front only but air cond can control left and right side with different temperature settings

Just bought the Renault Fluence but still go for a test drive to try out the Kadjar. I must say the car is impressive from exterior to interior and also the features packed car. The exterior of the car looks muscular a and the LED headlights and taillights blend well with the car. The interior of the car is needless to say. The Bose sound system is superb and it feels like a home theatre system. The R link navigation system is user friendly and the cruise control add convenience when driving on the highway or when travelling to Malaysia. Despite the car weight, the turbodiesel plant is more than sufficient to power the car. Overtaking and accelerating from stop is a breeze. Other standard features include auto headlight and auto wipers. The blind spot warning and lane departure functions are also useful in Singapore road. Overall the test drive experience is a pleasant one.

What I like
Auto headlights
Auto wipers
Keyless entry
Panasonic moonroof
Lane departure warning
Blind spot warning
Auto park assist
Electric park brake
Led headlights and taillights
Cruise control and speed limiter
Good acceleration and quiet cabin
Auto rear mirror dimmer

What I do not like
None so far

Had been doing a lot of research on SUVs and decided to shortlist this car to replace my 5-year old German-make saloon that was already giving me too much headache, leaks, gearbox issues, etc. After several test drives of different models, decided to go for the Kadjar BOSE edition. The sales reps at Wearnes Renault was also patient and knowledgeable, which made the overall experience of buying my first French car a positive one.

I have been driving it for about a month now and covered slightly more than 1500 km. I must say the din of the diesel engine takes a bit of getting used to, especially at cold start up. But when cruising, the drive is really quiet and comfortable. While it will not "Shoot off" From the start line like my previous car, the pulling power of the car is really quite awesome and feels effortless after the 2nd and 3rd gear kick in. Overtaking while cruising is a breeze. There's slight body roll when handling around corners, but I guess it’S a high car..

The car's driving view is really excellent, and the safety features like lane departure warning and blind spot assist is really helpful. The start-stop function gets some getting used to, but they can be switched off with a button press. The wifey also really love the auto park assist, especially for parallel parking in tight spaces.. The car takes over the steering wheel!

The best part of the car is really the fuel consumption. I'm getting an average of 18-20 km per litre with 40% Urban and 60% Highway driving. Never had to visit the petrol kiosk too often. And to pump the cheaper diesel to boot!

The R-link entertainment system is easy to use, and the navigation system is pretty intuitive. Connection from android to bluetooth is excellent, and the voice activated menu is responsive and helps a lot especially when you need to call someone while on the move. And the BOSE sound system completes it with surround-like entertainment.

As for reliability, will have to wait for the longer term.. Hopefully the Renault-Nissan partnership will allay any doubts on this. Overall, I’M pretty satisfied with the car so far.

What I like
-Fuel consumption
-Torque - great pulling power
-Simple to use R-link system mated to BOSE sound system
-19'' wheels and DRL look great..
-Comfortable when cruising
-Easy, fun-to-drive, nimble steering, cruise control, auto lights & wipers, one touch 3-blinks indicator lights, rear-view mirro dimmer
-Wide comfortable seats
-Spacious cabin
-Easy one-pull quick release folding rear seats with large rear cabin
-Renault Anti-intrusion Device (RAID) - Automatic door locking when vehicle is in motion. This is slightly different from others that I had experienced i.e. when you stop the car, you have to press the unlock button when you want to open any of the doors from inside . With Renault's system, you can open any of the doors from inside (not from outside) when the car comes to a complete stop. Of course there is an option for child-lock to prevent opening both ways.

What I do not like
-Engine power, but guess this is the trade-off for frugality
-Slightly bumpy ride over uneven roads at lower speeds
-Engine noise at lower speeds
-No rear air-con
-Volume and audio mode selection button controls situated behind the steering wheel.. needs getting used to.
-Centre console - could be situated forward slightly to make a better armrest
-No electric tailgate
-No electric power adjustments for seats

HAVE BEEN Noticing Kadjar Since early March 2016. We have done much homework before proceeding to test drive it. And we finally booked the pearl white unit this afternoon.

It was abit noisy when car was at idling however the sound insulation worked while when we sat in the car.

Worried about the engine performance however it seemed work well during the testdrive. Could feel the turbo kick in when RPM hit to 1700.

Genernally it was a comfortable ride. Clear and open driving view with adequate headroom clearance impressed me.

The sales personnel was professional enough to clear all my doubt and queries on the diesel engine rumours and I look forward getting my Kadjar soonest!

What I like
Stylish Exterior
Nice Interior
Great FC (As stated my Renault's sales)
Spacious Boot (472L)
Big Big Rim!(19inches)
Safety Feature

What I do not like
Reliability is yet to know
Mid seat at 2nd row is not comfortable
High road tax (S$1286)

The Kadjar is a stylish SUV that packs a ton of features. Its spacious on the interior, has a ton of safety features, and can even park itself. The front of the car is especially sharp and stunning. I also like that the car is curvy and unlike most SUVs.

behind the wheel, the engine feels weak, definitely not suited for hard driving. However, on the flip side, its very efficient, and the figures quoted are extremely high.

What I like
- good looking
- lots of kit
- comfortable interior

What I do not like
- lacklustre engine

Top 3 choices of SUV/ Cross Over to consider if you are the main concern over firstly economy as SUV are generally heavy so cost over fuel efficient. So being diesel propellent definitely sound.
Reliability in terms of serviceability & parts availability, sharing the same chasis and 70% Parts with Nissan Qashqai sure gives a peace in mind and low parts cost . Carrying the NCAP 5 Stars rating does uphold the safety and build quality status.
The cross culture alliance( Renault-Nissan) provides further Simplicity and Sensible in the recent design and development both in the interior and engine requirement.

What I like
Both BOSE/ Dynamique(E2S) ,Seductive appearance and handsome look with musculine body curvachures. Up-market and soft polymer material interior/dash board feel upper class . Excellent EDC gearbox provides smooth and responsive ride.Strike a balance on RIDE and COMFORT category with distinction.
BOSE Edition spoil the owner with panaromic roof that gives a grand and luxuary feel. Goes without saying BOSE stereo system with 7 way speaker ,sub-woofer and a electronic amplifier. Also the LED and Xenon headlight tells a lot characters and revashing handsome look.

What I do not like
Kinda under power if you require sudden change of performance but understandable as its only a 1.5 drivetrain. No rear AC.
