A well built toyota with features close to Lexus

I am driving the premium version from Borneo for 1 month. I did a comparison with the PI version due to 20k cost different. Eventually, I went for AD due to premium fit-up and service reliability. The 2024 version is different from the PI version which is mainly from the 2023 batch. Differences as followed,

1. Memory seat for driver.

2. Elctronics seats for both driver and front passenger

3. Head-up display

4. Full premium leather seats

5. Appleplay wireless but Andriod wired

6. Wireless charging

The NEW 2.5L Non-Turbo Harrier
icon image
Review

Went by to take a look at the new Harrier at Borneo

First looks, not much or no changes in the exterior.

The changes is Toyota ditched turbo for a 2.5L engine with hybrid, feeling it too taxing on the taxes side already.

Interior still has the premium feel of Harrier with the leather stitchings, quality leather felt seats, electric seats, good legroom and headroom too.

Sunroof was not there as well and the console is no longer flushed into the vehicle too, thus losing some points being premium and looking like its sibling, RAV4. Electric tailgate is there as default now with foot kick open.

Driving and safety features like front collision, radar cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure assist, adaptive high beam, parking support, blind spot, TPMS, rear traffic alert, plus many vehile settings you can play around with.

Drive off was slight halt but was still acceptable. On the road, it seems quiet cause of hybrid but when you overtake and revved, it roars up, perhaps due to lack of turbo, thus using conventional engine capacity to dash in.

At normal mode, its quiet drive but when you put to sports, its dashing seems forcefully pushed in. Another one due to lack of turbo.

Parking is easy for this Harrier as if did not recall wrongly, the mirrors will auto tilt down at R shift mode.

Overall, if you want a luxury SUV for its many added features, pick this Harrier but you need to factor in the high cc and cannot be dashed like its previous generation that is a 2.0L Turbo. Unless you add gadgets like the popular InterStar pedal.

It's the Toyota Harrier we all know and love, give an clean new look on the outside and a simplified and more cohesive design in the cabin.

Luxe and lush harrier

This new Harrier has been completely redesigned from the previous iteration that was so popular here in Singapore.

It's sleek, and mighty soft on the environment as well with this familiar hybrid drivetrain.

Almost Lexus like feel but lack some high trim features compared to overseas market

Review

Love the exterior design, no doubt 1 of the coolest looking SUV, was interested with RAV4 but don't like the rugged feel but prefer more luxury Harrier.

Very stable and good handling car to drive around, insulation is not bad as well. Places you touch are all leather soft touch.

One of the kind panoramic sun roof and digital rear view mirrors as well as full LED tail brake top lamp and full line makes it even more futuristic.

Went and test Mazda CX8, KIA Sorento hybrid Hyundai Santa. CX8 has its flaws, FC being the main, and still can't trust Korean cars especially millions are been recalled recently due to potential exploding engines. GLA is too small and GLC is too expensive.

Borneo should've given us the highest trim or option do get it like overseas market.

All in all no regrets buying this hybrid luxury harrier, reliability is the key in choosing Toyota.

Like:

1) Comfort

2) Nice to drive

3) leg room is huge

4) Stable

5) Reliable

6) Easy to maintain

7) maintenance definitely headache and fuss free

7) Good fuel consumption. 18-21/km.

What I dislikes, yes, console is boring, sound system not that bad but signal not that good especially underground highway.

Having driven Harrier turbo, decided to make a switch to Hybrid. No regret so far. Harrier being a harrier, definitely cannot compare to European car that comes with luxurious interior and full of electronics stuffs. But then I can't bear to fork out high maintenance cost if I am unlucky that the car gives me problem. If you google, BMW is the number one highest maintenence car thou is my dream car. Mercedes also my dream car but after hearing some friends paying $10k to change her absorber for her E class... My jaw drop wide open. She is rich so is fine.. But because I want a fuss and headache free car, Toyota is the only brand that old aunties old uncle will trusts. So i trusts old uncle taste. Lol

Forget the badge. Here's my argument.

Had this car for the past 4 months and average 20km/L. Under hard driving 17 km/L. Car handling is ok but it isn't built like a sport car. Roomy interior, has all the creature comforts, should be on your list if you're looking for a vehicle to just use, service and when it's time, change to something else rather than fussing about how expensive or rare the parts are or how expensive the labour is.

Harrier Hybrid 2.5 Elegance

Review

After driving for a month 2000km. The fuel consumption range from 19 to 24km/landing. Avg 20km/l under Normal mode. It is a huge car especially the width makes publicparkingtricky. Console with Android car play of 8 inch is disappointing with a 12 inch frame. It is a huge and heavy car that make you feel not to drive fast. Missing the urge or mojo but just cruising along to enjoy the comfort of the car. Overtaking is no issue at all.

European clone. Trying to copy Jag. Now priced even more than Conti and yet resale drop by 30% Within 1 year. Lost identity. Borneo Motors greedy.

The hybrid version of a popular Toyota doesn't disappoint

The Harrier has been one of the nicer SUVs available in the market. The updated design on this hybrid model looks very pleasing, with design cues that reminds of higher-end luxury European brands such as Jaguar. Definitely a good thing.

The interior of Toyota has always been OK, not too fancy but nicely built, this time round they managed to give the interior a more luxurious and updated feel.

The Harrier has been destroyed by Toyota & Borneo Motors

Review

Test drove the Premium version. Exterior looks dubious, and a rip-off of another make. Interior is claustrophobic for a car this big. Gloomy black lining with tacky media center. Plenty of cheap plastic from the Toyota models 1/3 this price. Muted with dampening. Horrible whiny hybrid when accelerating. Blinker signals at the bottom !! What was Toyota thinking ! Arrogant Borneo Motors staff as if the car is so high in demand that I had to get their attention.

Catfish styling

Review

Intriguing looking at first, but the more you look it at, the more it looks like a catfish trying to copy a Jaguar SUV. Not well put together. Some plasticky bits don't fit together at the window seals. Feels like a large Prius to drive. Cabin is quite well insulated but sooo claustrophobic for an SUV this size. The outgoing Harrier was much more manly than this catfish.
