Toyota has revealed the new Alphard and Vellfire.
The cars are currently available with petrol-only and hybrid drivetrains, although Toyota states that plug-in hybrid options will be available soon.
Both minivans have been designed so they offer a sense of solidity, akin to a fighting bull in full charge.
On the Alphard, this manifests in a plated pattern for the grille, with the head lights emitting a signature that it broken into separate segments to repeat this grille design. The taillights at the rear of the car also sports this pattern, sitting below a gently curved chrome trim.
The Vellfire, meanwhile, gets a grille that comprises of multiple horizontal elements, alongside larger faux air intakes at either end. The chrome trim that sits at the rear of the Vellfire is simply a horizontal item. Both cars feature a unique inverted 'Z' shape along their beltlines just aft of the driver's door.
Toyota states that the space between the front and second row seats has been increased by 5mm, while the space between the second-row and third-row seats increased by 10mm, thanks to changes to the driving position as well as the construction of the second-row seats.
Passengers here will also be ale to make use of a new Super-Long Overhead Console, which houses the controls for the air-conditioning and interior lighting. Passengers will also now be able to operate the windows on the opposite side of the vehicle thanks to this new console.
Access into both vehicles is also now easier thanks to the addition of Universal Steps on both right and left-hand-side sliding doors, while grips, designed for easy use by occupants of all shapes and sizes are also now positioned on the C pillars and on both sides of the ceiling.
The cars also now get a moonroof that uses independently operable right and left-side shades, so occupants can choose to see the sky even if others choose to block out the sunlight.
Under all this equipment, both cars now get an optimised version of the TNGA-K platform, said to offer 50% increased rigidity over the third-generation models. The platforms also get a host of anti-vibration measures to ensure that road surface vibrations are minimised for occupants.
The Toyota Alphard is being offered with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 180bhp and 235Nm of torque. The Toyota Vellfire, meanwhile, comes with a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine developing 275bhp and 430Nm of torque.
Both models will also be available with a 2.5-litre hybrid drivetrain that develops 247bhp.
Borneo Motors is currently scheduled to launch the cars here by late 2024.
