Cycle and Carriage Kia has launched the all new Kia Carnival in Singapore, delivering customers a Grand Utility Vehicle that combines unrivalled space, bold design and modern innovation to cater to the entire family.
Since the first generation model was launched in 1998, the Kia Carnival has sold over two million units. With this brand new fourth generation model, the Carnival has undergone a radical transformation, most evident in the new design approach to the model.
Dispensing with the traditional boxy MPV or minivan design, the new Carnival takes clear design inspiration from modern SUVs - a short front overhang, a 30mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor, bold wheel arches and a sharp, angular design all contribute to making the Carnival a more visually modern and appealing vehicle.
The 'tiger-nose' grille at the front of the car also now sees LED daytime running lights seamlessly integrated with it, creating a unique light signature. The sculpted bumpers, lower air intakes and full-width light bar at the rear all also draw inspiration from other Kia SUVs.
Where the Carnival sets itself apart is in the interior. In Singapore, the Carnival is offered in both seven-seat and eight-seat configurations. The seven-seat variant features a pair of Kia's 'Premium Relaxation Seat' in the second row, which can be electronically reclined for maximum comfort.
The eight-seater variant is all about flexibility. Beyond just offering more seating capacity, the middle seat in the second row can be rotated 180 degrees to accomodate a child safety seat. For even more space, the second row seats can be entirely removed, while the third row can also be lowered to create even more luggage space. This grows the already sizeable 627-litre boot (even with third row seats in use) to a gargantuan 2,827 litres with only the first row seats in use.
The Kia Carnival also features modern technology and equipment, with the interior headlined by a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. One-button smart open-and-close function for the rear sliding doors and tailgate make accessing the Carnival more convenient, while the Safe Exit Assist feature on the rear sliding doors will prevent them from opening if the system detects a car approaching from behind on either side.
Protecting all occupants aboard the Carnival are an array of Kia's advanced driver assistance systems, which comprise the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with car, pedestrian and cyclist detection, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Surround View Monitor, Smart Cruise Control as well as Lane Following Assist.
Powering the new Kia Carnival is a 2.2-litre Smartstream diesel engine producing 199bhp and 440Nm of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the revised engine (weighing 20kg less and with reduced friction and enhanced efficiency) promises both a smoother yet cleaner drive.
