Porsche has officially unveiled the new all-electric Macan, which marks its world premiere right here in Singapore. This is the first all-electric compact SUV from Porsche, representing an expansion of the Porsche range in the field of electromobility. The current all-electric models in Porsche's lineup include the Taycan, as well as its derivative, the Taycan Cross Turismo.
Like the Taycan, the Porsche Macan EV features 800V technology and is based on the Porsche Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture developed in collaboration with Audi AG - enhancing its flexibility and efficiency even further.
As of launch, there will be two variants available for our market - the Macan 4 as well as a Macan Turbo. Both models sport a large 100kWh battery, which allows the Macan 4 to have a combined WLTP range of 613km. The Macan Turbo, on the other hand, will be capable of 591km of combined range.
This difference, obviously, has to do with the performance output as well as weight difference between both variants. The 1.3-tonne Macan 4, for instance, will churn out 402bhp and 650Nm of torque, allowing it to complete the century sprint in 5.2 seconds. The juicier but heavier Macan Turbo will, however, shoot out 630bhp and a whopping 1,130Nm of torque from the word go, allowing it to hit the 100km/h mark from nought in just 3.3 seconds.
When it comes to functionality, the Macan EV does not disappoint, too. Measuring 4,784mm long, 1,938mm wide and 1,622mm tall, the new Porsche EV is 88mm longer than the regular Macan, which results in a wheelbase that's 85mm longer. Thus, rear passengers can expect more legroom.
Additionally, the Macan 4 boasts reasonable boot space of 540 litres, which can be expanded to 1,348 litres with the seats folded. The Turbo variant, on the contrary, has a slightly smaller 480 litres, and will increase a couple of notches to 1,288 litres, if necessary. Both variants will also have an 84-litre frunk space.
At the helm, you'll be faced with a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster, with a 10.9-inch infotainment system taking centre stage. According to Porsche, the driver's seat has also been lowered by 28mm for a sportier disposition.
Speaking of sportier, the all new Macan EV looks every bit like a Porsche - sporty, aggressive and instantly recognisable. For instance, the car now sports the brand's signature four-point head lights with Matrix LED technology, flared fenders and sideblades that have always been associated with the Macan.
Walk around the car and you'll also realise its frameless doors, taillight strip spanning the width of the rear as well as the make and model moniker that appear three-dimensional.
As of launch, the Porsche Macan 4 is priced at $254,888, and Macan Turbo is priced at $388,088, both prices before COE.
