Lamborghini recalls the Murcielago Coupe and Roadster

The recall affects models sold from 2007 to 2008 in the United States, and involves 428 units of the Muricelago Coupes and Roadsters models. Lamborghini has informed the American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the recall.

According to Lamborghini, the problem is with regards to the welds holding the fuel pump support inside the fuel tank, which could potentially detach and lead to a fuel leak. With an ignition source the problem could cause a fire risk.

Lamborghini adds that it will replace the fuel tanks of the affected cars at authorised Lamborghini dealers free of charge, with the exercise expected to begin in June. Owners of affected models are advised to contact Lamborghini for further information.
