BMW X1 revealed

BMW's upcoming X1 off-roader has been spotted in its undisguised glory, shooting a video in Germany.

Scheduled for an official launch at September's Frankfurt Motor Show, the smallest SUV from BMW so far is aimed at younger, less affluent customers, with frugal basic models like the xDrive18i, the xDrive18d and the xDrive23d to start with, all of which offer impressive economy.

The xDrive28i will be the flagship model for now, which will be the best performing variant. However, bigger powerplants are expected to fill up the range later. There will also be an entry-level version with just rear-wheel-drive.
