Motor Vehicle Grading
Within each of the 7 main systems and 9 sub-systems, individual items will
be graded based on the severity of defects found, if any. Grading of A to
D will be given for each system and sub-system, and an overall motor vehicle
grading will be given based on STAI’s specially developed proprietary
weightage model.
GRADE A
Motor vehicle's mechanical, interior and exterior body works in good condition
with no apparent need of repairs or replacement parts. Chassis frame alignment
within acceptable tolerance level. No sign of repair and visible damage to
the chassis frame, bodywork and floor panel.
GRADE B
Motor vehicle's mechanical, interior and exterior body works show common
signs of usage and may have some oil stain. Could be improved by minor servicing
or adjustment / touched up work or replacement of new parts to grade A condition.
Chassis frame alignment within acceptable tolerance level. No sign of repair
and visible damage to the chassis frame.
GRADE C
Motor vehicle's mechanical, interior and exterior body works show moderate
signs of usage and may have some oil leaks. No immediate signs of failure /
damage. Chassis frame alignment within acceptance tolerance but sign of repairs
and corrosion on chassis frame or body work.
GRADE D
Motor vehicle needs major or urgent repair / replacement of parts. Chassis
frame fails alignment test, chassis frame crack, badly corroded and poor repair
workmanship.
STAI's certification of the motor vehicle, and the information and opinion
contained in our certification report shall be valid only at the time of certification
and submission of the certification report. Nothing in the certification report
shall be taken as warranting or guaranteeing that the motor vehicle will remain
in the condition as stated as wear and tear, material failure, misuse and accident
may occur after the certification.
Certification Service
STA Inspection Pte Ltd ("STAI") provides an independent certification
of your motor vehicle through its rigorous 120-point inspection which includes
the usage of computerised equipment, visual inspection and road tests to assist
in the diagnosis and analysis of the motor vehicle and electrical systems.
Scope of Certification Service
1. STAI certification service is based on the usage of computerised diagnostic
equipment and a visual inspection of the exterior of your motor vehicle.
Whilst all reasonable care is taken in the certification process and preparation
of our certification report, it is confined only to evaluation of those parts
or components of the motor vehicle which are specifically examined by us.
2. STAI certification service is limited to the examination of 7 main systems
and 9 sub-systems, under the following tests:
- Chassis Frame Inspection
An electronic measuring system is used to measure
and check the dimensional correctness of motor vehicle chassis by measurements
taken either with reference to data sheets or on a comparative basis. A tolerance
level of 5mm derived from equipment data sheet or comparative measurement
readings is used during visual inspection to check on damages due to accident
impact, weakening of structural frame, obvious damages or corrosion on chassis
frame.
- General Engine Condition
Visual assessment on the engine starting, temperature,
smoke emission and charging systems. Examination of engine and transmission
lubricant. Road testing will be conducted to check on engine performance
and any transmission problems.

Bodywork & Floorboard Inspection for damage
and corrosion
- Paint Work inspection for scratches, fading,
damage and others
- Mechanical & Electrical Systems Inspection
for wear and tear, malfunction and defect of electrical devices, lighting
and mechanical items
- Undercarriage Inspection for wear and tear, malfunction
and defect of under carriage mechanical items
- Oil, hydraulic and water Leakage
Check for leakage of steering, brake
and clutch fluid, engine and gearbox oil and engine coolant.
- Road Test
Road testing to simulate different speed and road conditions to check on steering,
brake, transmission, clutch, suspension, drive shaft and final drive, wheel
bearing and tyre noise, rigidity of bodywork and instrument panel, and exhaust
noise.
