Serving as the lead partner at the latest Goodwood Members Meeting (MM81), Alpine has highlighted its rich motorsport heritage and ongoing support towards one of the UK's most iconic racing venues.
The MM81 was kicked off with a dynamic demonstration of Alpine's track-focused A110 R Le Mans special edition. This model is able to go from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 284km/h.
Globally, only 100 units of the A110 R Le Mans special edition have been produced, 10 of which are in the U.K. Out of the 10 units in the U.K., half were in attendance at the parade. The lead driver of the A110 R Le Mans fleet was BTCC ace, Gordon Shedden, who is not only an Alpine enthusiast but - interestingly - uses A110 models for track tuition at the demanding Knockhill circuit.
The Le Mans theme continued with Alpine's display of the show version of its A424_(beta) race car.
Powered by a turbocharged 3.4-litre V6 and single electric motor engine, the car is expected to make its debut competing in the top LMDH hypercar category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in June this year.
The pure electric A290_(beta), the concept behind Alpine's first ever 100% electric car, the A290, was also displayed at Goodwood - marking its return to the legendary motor racing setting, after its appearance last year. This model is a combination of Alpine's learning in motorsports, topped off with an electric drivetrain, and is said to display the importance of racing heritage in shaping future vehicles.
As reported previously, A290 is set to debut as well at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, further emphasising Alpine's rich motorsport history.
Alpine states that its rich motorsports heritage makes Goodwood and Alpine a good match. Rounding off the brand's presence at Goodwood were several examples of the original Alpine A110 Berlinette from the 1960s - the pioneering car that helped kickstart the image of Alpine that we know today.
